01

It started with a spoon.

Two brothers, both students at Southern Utah University, started making rings out of old silverware. There was no plan and no brand. We shaped spoon handles into rings and sold them to friends around campus.

02

One of us stayed.

Spencer left for UVU. Andrew stayed in Cedar City, kept the business going, and gave it a name: Spoon Rings by Wilks. Selling to college students and to the tourists passing through southern Utah turned a side project into something real.

03

Two workshops, one state apart.

Spencer started his own operation up in Utah County. For a while there were two of us making rings separately, at opposite ends of Utah, learning different things about the craft and about the people buying it.

04

We put it back together.

The two halves came back together as one workshop. What we each worked out apart (the making, the selling, the listening) is what the business runs on now.

05

People chose pieces that meant something.

Customers didn’t just pick the shiniest ring. They picked the pattern that reminded them of their grandmother’s kitchen, the piece from the year they were born. The interesting part was never just the spoon. It was the connection.

06

Engraving changed the question.

With custom engraving, the question stopped being “which spoon pattern do you want?” and became “what story do you want your ring to tell?” A mountain you climbed. A pet’s name. A sealing date. The exact coordinates of where you said yes.

07

So we became ByWilks.

Spoon rings are still here. They’re our Heritage collection, and they always will be. But the idea got bigger: turning meaningful pieces, places, people, and memories into jewelry you can actually wear.

Handcrafted in Utah. Made from meaningful pieces. Built to be worn every day.
